The poky repository master branch is gone & qemux86-64 – whinlatter

Key takeaways The article discusses the implications of the poky master branch being no longer updated as of November 7th, 2025. It introduces two options: individual clones of BitBake and layers, or using the new bitbake-setup tool for building ‘images’, but focuses on the bitbake-setup tool. The focus is on building a ‘core-image-minimal’ for the ‘qemux86-64’ emulator using the Reliable Embedded Systems build framework. Users can expect a step-by-step guide on installing Docker, setting up the build environment, and running QEMU. The conclusion highlights the utility of a ‘Build Container’ for creating images suitable for QEMU emulation. https://reliableembeddedsystems.com/res-build-framework-qemux86-64-whinlatter/

Reliable Embedded Systems – Robert Berger e.U. build framework & qemux86-64-virt-master Objectives Can the Reliable Embedded Systems – Robert Berger e.U. Yocto Project®/OpenEmbedded build environment and QEMU work together? Or do we need real hardware? Let's have a look! We'll build an image - a "core-image-minimal" - for the qemux86-64 emulator. We'll try to execute the image with the emulator. https://reliableembeddedsystems.com/res-build-framework-qemux86-64-virt-master-nanbield/ https://reliableembeddedsystems.com/res-build-framework-qemux86-64-virt-master-nanbield/

Yocto/Qt5: hello-qt part4 - devtool

Introduction This work is sponsored by Reliable Embedded Systems . You can find more information about our training/consulting services here . Objectives The goal of this blog post is to show my journey trying to build a hello-qt application and reasons why I don't like Qt . As far as I can tell this is going to be a multi part blog post. You might want to have a look at part one , part two and part three as well. We'll try to use the devtool in order to create a recipe for what we built with the SDK plus a layer where we'll move the recipe. devtool: create recipe/run on board As a Yocto person. devtool: create a recipe pokyuser@fc3633f77731:/workdir$ devtool add hello-qt https://gitlab.com/exempli-gratia/hello-qt-sdk.git --src-subdir = src NOTE: Starting bitbake server... Yocto/Qt5: hello-qt part3 - SDK

Objectives The goal of this blog post is to show my journey trying to build a hello-qt application and reasons why I don't like Qt . As far as I can tell this is going to be a multi part blog post. You might want to have a look at part one and part two as well. We'll try to build an SDK for qt5, with this SDK a simple hello-qt application and in part four a recipe for this. SDKs In general the Yocto Projecty supports both a "classic" SDK and an extensible SDK. The extensible SDK is what I wanted to use for this, since it contains the devtool as well, but, as I already pointed out, meta-qt5 (community) support is kind of "not so motivated"[1] and with meta-qt6 (by the Qt Company) you can not even build the hello-qt command line application.  [1] https://github.com/meta-qt5/meta-qt5/issues/356   Install my ...
